The highest of the Glenshee hills and the top of Angus, a broad mossy plateau right above the ski road

Glas Maol is the high point of the group of hills around the Glenshee ski area, a broad mossy plateau reaching 1,068m. It is a Munro, a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet, and also the highest ground in Angus. The A93 over the Cairnwell pass climbs high onto the moor nearby, so the walk up from the road is shorter than the height suggests, and the top is often linked with Creag Leacach and Cairn of Claise in a round. Ski tows mark the north-western slopes, which fall within the Cairngorms. In poor visibility the featureless plateau gives little to steer by.
