Stoke Dry is barely a dozen houses on the slope above Eyebrook Reservoir, which the Dambusters used for low-level practice runs in 1943. Local legend ties the village to the Gunpowder Plot, claiming conspirators met in a room over the church porch, though the story is hard to pin down. The church and reservoir footpaths are the reasons to come; it’s a quiet spot in the county’s south-west corner.
