The Marquess of Exeter is a thatched ironstone inn on the long main street of Lyddington, standing where a tavern has been recorded since the 1560s. Low rooms with inglenook fireplaces and flagstone floors now house a modern Indian kitchen, with rooms in an annexe behind. The medieval Bede House is a few minutes’ walk away.
