The Crown is an old coaching inn on the high street in Uppingham, with half a dozen individually decorated rooms above the bar. It pours real ales and cooks with produce from other local independents, and makes a comfortable base for the town’s bookshops and galleries or a day out at Rutland Water. Oakham is the nearest station, about 9km north.
