Medbourne sits in the Welland Valley on the line of a Roman road, and a low medieval packhorse bridge still crosses the brook that runs through the middle of the village. The Nevill Arms, a mullioned former coaching inn, stands right by the water and does duty as the village hub. It’s quiet walking country close to the Rutland and Northamptonshire borders.
