Luddenden is a huddle of 17th-century houses around St Mary’s church and the Lord Nelson inn, tucked into a side valley off the Calder. Branwell Brontë worked as a clerk at nearby Luddenden Foot railway station in the 1840s, and was a regular in the Lord Nelson. Mytholmroyd station is about 3km to the west.
