Stubbing Wharf sits between the Rochdale Canal and the steep wooded valley side just west of Hebden Bridge. Ted Hughes set his poem “Stubbing Wharfe” in this very pub, brooding over the town’s future in the fug of the bar. These days it’s a straightforward canalside stop for a pint and a meal. Hebden Bridge Station is about 1.5km to the east.
