Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

Hardcastle Crags is a steep wooded valley cut by Hebden Water, looked after by the National Trust and laced with paths through the trees. At its heart is Gibson Mill, a former cotton mill now run off-grid as a visitor hub with a cafe. It’s a fine shady walk on a warm day. There are NT car parks, and Hebden Bridge station is around 4km to the south-east.
