Hebden Bridge
Local highlightBohemian Pennine mill town in a steep valley.
Hebden Bridge is a former mill town wedged into the Calder gorge, with ‘double-decker’ houses stacked up the steep valley sides and the Rochdale Canal running through the middle. It reinvented itself as an artsy, independent-minded place, full of cafes, bookshops and small galleries. Hardcastle Crags, a wooded valley with a working mill, is a lovely walk just to the north. The station is a short way from the centre.
