Pontypool Folly Tower
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
The Folly Tower stands on the hill above Pontypool Park, first built by the Hanbury family in the 1760s as an eye-catcher. It was pulled down during the Second World War so it couldn’t guide enemy bombers to the valley’s ironworks, then rebuilt in 1994. From the top the view runs across the Usk valley to the Bristol Channel. A walk up through the park reaches it; Pontypool & New Inn station is a couple of kilometres east.
