The small church at Bettws Newydd, in the Usk valley, holds one of the most complete medieval rood screens and lofts left in Britain — the carved timber gallery still spanning the church much as it did before the Reformation. Few churches kept both screen and loft intact, which makes this a quiet favourite of church-crawlers. It stands down narrow lanes north of Usk.
