Bettws Newydd keeps one of the best-preserved medieval rood screens in Wales — a complete oak screen with its loft still intact, an unusual survival from before the Reformation. The little church sits among fields in the Usk valley north of Usk, reached by narrow lanes. There’s not much else to the hamlet itself.
