Blaenavon Ironworks is one of the best-preserved early ironworks anywhere, built in the late 18th century as the Industrial Revolution took hold. Its blast furnaces, cast houses and a terrace of workers’ cottages still stand. Cadw runs the site as part of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site, and it opens seasonally. Blaenavon village is just up the hill.
