Big Pit is a former colliery at Blaenavon, now Wales’s National Coal Museum. Ex-miners lead the underground tour, taking you down the shaft in the old pit cage into the workings below. It sits within the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site, and entry is free. Nearest station is Ebbw Vale Parkway, roughly 6km to the west.
