This Blaenavon cheesemaker matures its flagship Pwll Mawr — “Big Pit” — cheddar around 300ft underground, at the bottom of a shaft at the Big Pit mining museum, where the temperature holds steady the year round. Other cheddars come flavoured with Penderyn whisky, leek or local ale. The shop is on Broad Street in Blaenavon, a World Heritage town.
