Penderyn distillery, on the southern edge of Bannau Brycheiniog, revived Welsh whisky-making after a gap of more than a century — the first spirit ran in 2000 and the first single malt was released on St David’s Day 2004. It draws on a spring beneath the village for its water and runs a distinctive single-still spirit. Tours and tastings run through the day and are booked ahead.
