This is serious Highland ground on the north-west seaboard, 1,635 km² of mountain, moor and sea loch. The peaks here are among the most striking in Britain — steep-sided sandstone and quartzite rising almost from sea level, with long walk-ins and little in the way of shelter.

An Teallach is one of the great ones, a curving ridge of pinnacles above Dundonnell that ranks with the finest mountains in the country. Deep in the wild land behind it, A’ Mhaighdean is often called the remotest Munro of all, while Baosbheinn stands on its own above the Flowerdale hills.

This is demanding country. The days are long, the ground broken and pathless in places, and the weather can close in fast, so hill experience, navigation and a reliable forecast are essential before you commit.
