When the Disruption split the Church of Scotland in 1843, Free Church congregations near Torridon had no building of their own, so they gathered to worship here at Am Ploc, a rocky headland above the sea. There’s nothing built on it — the open air was the church. You can reach the spot on the coastal path from Shieldaig or Torridon, and it’s a quietly moving place to stand.
