Palm-fringed village on a sheltered bay.
Plockton is the one with the palm trees. Sheltered on a bay off Loch Carron and warmed by the North Atlantic Drift, it has rows of cabbage palms along the waterfront and a genuinely subtropical look for somewhere this far north. It stood in for the fictional Lochdubh in the 1990s TV series Hamish Macbeth, and the harbour is still gorgeous. Duncraig station, on the Kyle line, is under a mile away.
