Kyleakin sits on the Skye side of the Skye Bridge, looking back across the narrows to Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland. Above the old harbour stand the ruins of Caisteal Maol, a small medieval keep once held by the MacKinnons that guarded the strait. It makes an easy first or last stop on the island, a short walk from the bridge.
