Balmacara is a small village on Loch Alsh, at the centre of the National Trust for Scotland’s Balmacara Estate — a working crofting landscape of woodland walks and coastal paths on the mainland side of the Skye Bridge. It’s an easy stop on the A87 between Kyle of Lochalsh and Dornie. Duirinish station, on the scenic Kyle line, is a few kilometres up the coast if you’d rather come by train.
