Gairloch is one of the larger villages on this stretch of the Wester Ross coast, spread around its sea loch rather than gathered into a single centre. There are sandy beaches, the Gairloch Heritage Museum with its Pictish carved stone, and marine wildlife trips heading out from the harbour. A good base on the A832 for exploring the coast, with shops and places to stay.
