Eggleston Hall Gardens sit up in Teesdale, a walled garden of winding paths and deep borders running down to a beck, with a ruined sixteenth-century church in the grounds and a well-stocked plant nursery attached. It’s a working, slightly wild sort of garden rather than a clipped one — good hunting for plant people. There’s an admission charge and a café; it’s deep in the dales, so come by car.
