Cross Lanes is an organic farm shop and café just outside Barnard Castle, stocking Teesdale produce including the local Cotherstone cheese. It’s a handy stop for lunch and a bag of shopping while you’re in the area, with the farm’s own and neighbouring producers’ goods on the shelves. Bishop Auckland station is roughly 20km to the north-east.
