Teesdale Cheesemakers are the keepers of Cotherstone, a crumbly, tangy cheese that’s been famed in the dale since at least the 1850s. They make it by hand at a small dairy across the river from Cotherstone, using local milk, and sell it locally and by mail order. Look for it in Teesdale farm shops and on the cheeseboards of nearby pubs like the Fox and Hounds.
