Cotherstone stands where the River Balder joins the Tees, a stone Teesdale village best known for Cotherstone cheese — a crumbly white cheese still made in the dale. There are greens to sit on and the Fox and Hounds for lunch, and Barnard Castle is only a couple of miles down the road.
