Hambleton Bakery began in Exton in 2008, set up by baker Julian Carter and Tim Hart to supply bread to the nearby Michelin-starred Hambleton Hall. It has since grown to a handful of shops across the East Midlands. The original village site keeps a shop and cafe turning out slow-proved sourdoughs and cakes; the bread is now baked over at Stretton. Oakham station is about 7km south-west.
