Whitewell is barely a hamlet - just a church and the famous Inn at Whitewell, a rambling old inn above a bend in the River Hodder, popular for a drink or a stay in gorgeous Bowland surroundings. Stepping stones cross the river below when it’s low enough to reach them. It’s a remote, lovely spot. Clitheroe station is about 10km to the south-east, so you’ll want a car.
