Clitheroe is the main market town of the Ribble Valley and a natural base for exploring the Forest of Bowland. A small Norman keep sits on a limestone knoll above the streets, there’s a lively market, and Holmes Mill - a converted mill now full of food, drink and a big beer hall - has become a real draw. The station is right in town. Villages like Waddington and Downham are just up the road.
