Great Mitton stands on a rise just above the point where the Hodder joins the Ribble. The medieval All Hallows Church is the landmark, worth a look for its old woodwork and the fine monuments inside. Two well-known dining pubs sit close by - the Three Fishes, and, down by the river, the Aspinall Arms. Whalley station is about 3km to the south-east.
