Dunsop Bridge is often called the nearest village to the geographic centre of Great Britain - the actual point lies a few miles north on the moors at Whitendale Hanging Stones. BT marked the connection by installing its 100,000th payphone here in 1992, and the box still stands with its plaque. It’s a peaceful riverside spot and the gateway to the Trough of Bowland, popular with walkers and cyclists. Clitheroe station is about 11km to the south-east.
