The Hark to Bounty took its name, so the story goes, from a local squire’s hound — its baying once carried through Slaidburn during a hunt. It’s an old stone inn on the main street of this remote Bowland village, with rooms for anyone breaking a walk, and St Andrew’s church stands just along the road. Clitheroe station is roughly 13km south.
