Bolton-by-Bowland is a tidy village with not one but two greens, an old market cross and a set of stocks still standing at its heart. A waymarked trail of about three miles loops out through classic Ribble Valley farmland if you fancy stretching your legs. It’s a peaceful place with a café and a village shop. Clitheroe, the nearest station, is roughly 9km to the south-west.
