Seafood is the calling card at the Assheton Arms, a bit of a surprise this far inland. The pub sits above one of Lancashire’s prettiest village streets in Downham, with Pendle Hill rising behind and St Leonard’s church a minute’s walk off. Clitheroe station is about 5km to the south-west.
