The Spread Eagle stands on the bank of the Ribble at Sawley, looking straight across to the ruins of Sawley Abbey. It’s a 17th-century Grade II inn, refurbished and open to non-residents for food and drink, with rooms overlooking the river. Clitheroe station is about 6km south-west.
