One of Lancashire’s oldest villages, Chipping is a cluster of stone cottages above the little River Loud on the southern edge of Bowland. Brabin’s, the village shop, has been trading since the 17th century, and Chipping has racked up a string of Britain in Bloom awards for its flower displays. There’s a café or two and good walking straight from the door. The nearest station, Langho, is a fair way off at about 14km.
