The village of Stow is built around Stow Minster, one of the great Saxon churches of England and long regarded as the mother church of the diocese before Lincoln Cathedral. Much of the crossing is pre-Conquest, with tall Saxon arches and Norman work above; the scale of it feels startling in so small a place. The church is open to visitors, and Saxilby lies about 7km south.
