Nine windmills once crowned the ridge on Lincoln’s western edge; Ellis Mill is the last of them. Built in 1798 and nearly lost to fire in 1974, it was restored by volunteers and grinding flour again by 1981. The four-sailed tower opens on advertised days, free to look round, and still mills when the wind allows. Lincoln Central is about 1.5km downhill.
