The Wig & Mitre is a long-running dining pub part-way up Steep Hill, the cobbled climb to Lincoln’s cathedral. Opened in 1977 in a pair of 14th-century buildings, it’s a free house whose name nods to the courts and the church higher up, and it serves food right through the day. Lincoln Cathedral is a short walk further up; Lincoln Central station is about a kilometre back downhill.
