A beck runs through the middle of Nettleham, past a green and stone cottages, a few miles north-east of Lincoln. On the edge of the village are the earthworks of a medieval palace of the bishops of Lincoln, long demolished but still readable as banks and ditches in the grass. It makes an easy base for Lincoln Cathedral; the city’s Central station is about 6km south-west.
