Steep Hill is the cobbled street that climbs from the Brayford waterside up to the cathedral quarter, and it earns the name — reckoned one of the steepest streets in England. Timber-framed and stone houses line it, among them the Norman-era Jew’s House, one of the oldest surviving town houses in the country, now given over to independent shops, cafés and galleries. A stiff walk up, with the cathedral waiting at the top.
