Built in 1813, North Leverton Windmill was a subscription mill — put up by a group of local farmers to escape the prices of the lord of the manor’s mill — and it has turned ever since, reckoned to be the only windmill in the country that has never stopped working. It still grinds stoneground flour, sold on Saturdays when the mill is open and you can climb up to watch the stones at work. Gainsborough Lea Road is the nearest station, about 7km to the north-east.
