Beacon Hill rises above the ridge village of Gringley on the Hill, a green mound long kept as a warning-beacon site. From the top the land falls away to the flat carrs of the Trent and Idle and the Isle of Axholme beyond, one of the widest views in Nottinghamshire. It’s open access, an easy walk up from the village.
