Gringley on the Hill sits on a ridge above the flat lands of the Isle of Axholme. Beacon Hill at the east end of the village was long a warning-beacon site and gives one of the widest views in Nottinghamshire, out over the Trent levels. There’s no station close by; the village is best reached by road.
