Epworth, out on the Isle of Axholme, is the Wesley village. John Wesley was born here in 1703 and his brother Charles, the hymn-writer, in 1707, sons of the parish rector. The family’s rectory, rebuilt in 1709 after a fire, survives as a museum to their childhood. Crowle station is about 7km to the north.
