Planning to climb Pendle Hill? Barley is where most people start. It’s a snug little village at the foot of the fell, with a car park, a café and a picnic area by the water, plus the Pendle Sculpture Trail winding up through the woods above. Brierfield station is about 6km to the south-east. Downham and Newchurch-in-Pendle sit close by on the other flanks of the hill.
