Roaming Roosters started as a free-range chicken farm and grew into a butchery, bistro and coffee room at Higham, in the lanes below Pendle. They rear and cure much of their own meat, so it’s a good place both to eat — big breakfasts and lunches — and to stock the fridge from the farm shop. There’s a play area for the kids. Brierfield station is a few kilometres east, but most people drive.
