Barrowford sits on Pendle Water just north of Nelson, a former weaving village on the edge of witch country. Its main draw is the Pendle Heritage Centre, a cluster of old buildings with an 18th-century walled garden running down to the stream, a tearoom and displays on the Pendle witches. Nelson station is under 2km to the south. It makes an easy stop on the way to Barley and the hill.
