The Wrekin & The Ercall is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Shropshire, covering 2.9 km². It is one of 105 SSSIs in the county. Only two of the county's SSSIs are larger. It lies inside the Shropshire Hills National Landscape.

For arrivals by rail, Wellington (Shropshire) Station is about 1.2 km to the north-east. For more of the same, Wenlock Edge and Granville Country Park are close by.
