A Regency mansion in a great sweep of parkland near Atcham, remodelled by John Nash from 1807 with a top-lit staircase and a picture gallery. Humphry Repton landscaped the grounds from 1797, joining house to garden across lawns that run down to the River Tern, and the deer park with its fallow herd dates from 1798. There’s a walled garden, woodland and riverside walking too. National Trust, given in 1947; paid entry. Shrewsbury station is about six kilometres west.
